I actually picked up an application and I lost it. I had it in the glove box of my car and I couldn't find a job and I found it, and brought it in. Panera Bread's very big on meeting applicants, so it's very good if you can give it to the manager on duty, preferably not at a time when there's a line out the door. I had an initial interview with an assistant manager and it was pretty quick, 10 minutes, pretty casual, basic interview questions and then about a week later I got a call from the general manager and had an interview with him, as well. Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates? Panera Bread Associate: I think when I came in, the manager was at a table writing a schedule, so she wasn't quite accessible, but the employee told me where she was and I walked right over, introduced myself, made eye contact, shook her hand, gave her my application, told her why I was excited to work there, potentially, and things like that. I think if you take that extra step and be personable with the managers on duty that you're turning your application into, it'll really set you apart.

That will be you–the electrician. Therefor they want to hear that you won't wait for their orders, but will proactively look for things to improve. You can say that you will walk around the building, check all electrical systems, talk to other employees, and make a list of things to repair/improve. Every hiring manager will be happy with such an answer. Simple technical questions As I said in the beginning, most companies trust the schools of trade, and they won't give you many technical questions. Still, they may give you a few, just to see how you react, and if you actually remember something from your studies. You may get one of the following questions: What does a fuse or breaker do? What are the differences between the two? How can you prevent high-voltage electrical systems from breaking down? A colleague got an electric shock. What will you do? What's over-lamping and why is it dangerous? What are the most common defects of PLC? Note: In some cases, the interviewers themselves won't know the right answers to these questions –or they will know just a very basic answer they found on the internet.
